The ABS [Anticoagulation-specific Bleeding Score] Bleeding Score

Introduction

The ABS Algorithm was developed to stratify the risk of bleeding in patients with Atrial Fibrillation on a DOAC - Dabigatran, Rivaroxaban or Apixaban. The ABS facilitates the risk-benefit analysis of anticoagulation initiation by providing information that allows for the quantification of bleeding risk by specific oral anticoagulant therapies. The ABS algorithm uses 15 variables to predict the risk of major bleeding in patients either on Warfarin or a DOAC.

For additional information and an outline of the algorithm see References Claxton et al 2018.
